SOLUTIONS

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)

Used in Europe for over 50 years, hormone pellets are made from yams, which mimic the body’s own hormones. The small pellets are placed inside a small incision near your outer thigh performed in office without anesthesia. The process is relatively painless and you can resume most of your regular activity immediately.  This method delivers a continuous release of the hormones that you need to feel like yourself.

This is a great choice for women that have allergies or prefer not to use synthetic products.  Since each person has unique needs, a customized dose of estrogen and/ or testosterone is used after a blood test is interpreted by our physician to determine the right dose for you.

At Dominion Women’s Health, we have three physicians and nurse practitioner who are well versed in using BHRT.  You may choose to see Dr. Danny Shaban, Dr. Thomas Mead, Dr. Bialines Espinosa, and Colene Smith, FNP.  Since all of our providers rotate through all of our office locations, you have the option of choosing a location to receive HRT in Richmond, wherever you are.  After your initial consultation, you are able to continue your treatment at our newest location, DWH Health & Wellness Med Spa located in Short Pump!

Gel or Cream

A great way to start treatment if you do not want to take medication in the form of a pill and not ready to commit to pellet therapy.  There are many options available from prescription to compounded products.  Compounded creams are made by a pharmacy with a dose determined by your doctor. Using lotion as a base, an appropriate amount of estrogen is added. The cream can be applied up to 3 times daily based on your doctor’s recommendation in areas such as: inner thigh, forearm, or inter-vaginal.

Pills

Depending on your needs, the tried and true form of oral medication may be a great option.  Our physicians and nurse practitioners have many options to prescribe, depending on your needs.  With custom compounds and traditional options, you and the medical professional will decide on your best treatment.
